ABOUT
Ogochukwu Bibiana Ossai is a Nigerian fiction writer based in Atlanta, Georgia. She holds a Ph.D. in Fiction from Texas Tech University and an MFA from Long Island University, Brooklyn, where she received the Marilyn Boutwell Graduate Award in Fiction. Her writing has been supported by prestigious fellowships and scholarships, including the Anaphora Literary Arts Residency, the Hatty Fitts Walker Scholarship from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, The Poetry Project, and an Idyllwild Arts Writers Week fellowship.
Her stories and poems explore human psychology, moral ambiguity, grief, and trauma, often centering marginalized and underrepresented voices grappling with their identities in a world that oscillates between chaos and peace. Through fiction, she engages with the historicity of particular peoples, postcolonial legacies, and the ways history continues to shape contemporary existence.
Outside of writing and teaching undergraduate classes, Bibiana enjoys watching Korean drama, traveling and immersing herself in the diverse cultures and landscapes of the world. She also has a passion for photography and hiking some of the most breathtaking trails.
